On 20 January 2014, the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad held a senate overseas election in its compound for the Thai community and the Thai students living in Islamabad. There were many Thai voters coming to cast their ballots. The Royal Thai Embassy also facilitated the Thai people living outside Islamabad to exercise their rights by sending the ballots by post.
