On 10 August 2020, H.E. Mr. Pornpop Uampidhaya, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, has participated in the Handover of Chairmanship of ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) virtual ceremony co-hosted by the Embassy of Vietnam and the High Commission of Brunei. On the occasion, after the end of his 6-month tenure, H.E. Mr. Pham Hoang Kim, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam handed over the ACI Chairmanship to H.E. Dato Mahmud Saidin, High Commissioner of Brunei Darrusalam. As 8 August 2020 is observed as ASEAN Day 2020, all ASEAN Ambassadors and High Commissioners in Pakistan jointly celebrated the 53^rd anniversary of ASEAN in the virtual event.

           Incidentally, on 8 August 2020, H.E. Mr. Shah Mahmood Querashi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, had kind message to congratulate the ASEAN Day 2020, adding that Pakistan as a Sectoral Dialogue Parthner of ASEAN remains committed to upgrading partnership with ASEAN to higher levels, and will continue to deepen and strengthen ties with ASEAN and its members in line with its “Vision Easy Asia” policy.
