On 19 July 2019, Ambassador Pornpop Uampidhaya took over the Chairmanship of ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) from the previous Chair, the Philippines. On 22 July 2019, He chaired the first ACI meeting during his chairmanship to map out ACI’s plan of activities in the next 6 months including ASEAN Day which is due on 8 August 2019.  

         The ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) was established since the inception of ASEAN. Members comprise of Ambassadors and High Commissioners of ASEAN to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The main objectives of the ACI are to raise the visibility and awareness of ASEAN in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan , and to further strengthen cordial relations between ASEAN and Pakistan societies. Each year the ACI is set to meet, both formally and informally, on a regular basis to exchange of views and keep each other updated of relevant developments necessary for their respective missions. Various cultural programmes of activities in the name of ASEAN have been always undertaken in order to achieve the objective of promoting people-to-people relations.
