On 10 February 2014, H.E. Mr. Tomwit Jarnson, Ambassador of Thailand to Pakistan met with Dr. Miftah Ismail, Chairman of Board of Investment (BOI) of Pakistan and Mr. Falak Sher Kalas, Director General, BOI Pakistan. They discussed the bilateral economic relations between Thailand and Pakistan, the Government of Pakistan’s policy and strategies to promote foreign investment, incentives for foreign investors, and procedures to start a business. Chairman of BOI Pakistan highlighted the Pakistani Government’s policy and strategies to attract foreign investors. For instance, foreign investors can hold 100% equity, invest in every sector except defence industry, and repatriate profits and dividends back to their home country in USD currency. The Pakistani Government has set its priority to investment sector in which Thai investors might be interested. The prioritized fields are coal power plant, gas exploration, telecommunication, banking, furniture, tourism, and fish farming. Chairman of BOI Pakistan reaffirmed his readiness to render full assistance to prospective Thai investors.
