On 8 January 2014, H.E. Mr. Tomwit Jarnson, Ambassador of Thailand to Pakistan met with Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector of the International Islamic University, Islamabad concerning the well-being of 41 Thai students in the University, the request for information on educational scholarships and grants from the University and the Government of Pakistan that are offered to foreign students, the visa facilitation for the 42 new Thai students who are expected to come to Pakistan to continue their studies by the end of January 2014, the transportation service for Thai students, and the possibility to use a space in the University to hold regular meetings of the Islamabad-based Thai Students Union. Prof. Dr. Yasinzai would look into the matters and would give a positive response to the Ambassador’s requests. Prof. Dr. Yasinzai expressed views on the possibility to organize faculty and student exchange programme between the International Islamic University, Islamabad and the prestigious Thai Universities such as Chulalongkorn University and Thammasat University.

 Ambassador also met with Dr. Ahmad Yousif A. Al-Draiweesh, President of the International Islamic University, Islamabad. Dr. Ahmad Yousif A. Al-Draiweesh was pleased to have a large number of Thai students in the University. Apart from Islamic study, the University has offered other fields of study such as technology and sciences. Dr. Ahmad Yousif A. Al-Draiweesh affirmed that the University was ready to render full support and assistance to the Thai students.
