On 13 November 2011,  the Royal Thai Embassy led by Ambassador Marut Jitpatima, Mrs. Jiraporn Jitpatima, Mrs. Buathong Tamjadee, wife of Defence Attache, and Mrs. Somsamorn Nicrothanonda, wife of the Embassy’s staff,  participated in the Charity Bazaar organized by “Pakistan Foreign Office Women Association – PFOWA”  and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan at the Sarena Hotel.  The event’s chief  guest was H.E. Mrs. Hina Rabbani Khar, Foreign Minister of Pakistan, who expressed her appreciation and thanks to all  participated Embassies and High Commissions for their roles of “diplomatic social responsibility”.

This annual event which was participated by 22 Embassies and High Commissions is aimed at  raising fund for the less fortunate Pakistanis.   The Embassy set up two stalls to sell food and costume jewellery.  The food stall which sold Chicken Green Curry, Pad Thai and two desserts  prepared by the Ambassador’s residence were sold out very fast as Thai food was popular among diplomats and Pakistanis.   H.E.  Minister Rabbani who dropped by at both of the Embassy’s stalls said that “I personally like Pad Thai” and asked whether the costume jewellery items were of OTOP’s production.

On this occasion, Ambassador Jitpatima gave an interview to PTV  (Pakistan Television) on his preferences concerning Pakistan’s tourist attractions and on how to convince foreign tourists to visit Pakistan.

The proceeds collected from the sales of the Thai food and costume jewellery will be donated to PFOWA for its charitable causes.
