INVESTMENT IN PAKISTAN OF CHAROEN POKPHAND FOODS PCL

                                On 7-8 April 2011, a delegation of Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CPF) led by Mr. Adirek Sripratak, President and CEO, and accompanied by Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, paid an official visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Mr. Saleem H. Mandviwalla, Chairman of BOI Pakistan. 

                                During the visit, the delegation accompanied by Ambassador Marut Jitpatima, met and discussed on investment opportunity with H.E. Mr. Israrullah Khan Zehri, Minister of Food and Agriculture of Pakistan and Mr. Saleem H. Mandviwalla, Chairman of BOI Pakistan, in Islamabad on 7 April.   The delegation also met with Mr. Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab Province, and Chief of BOI-Punjab in Lahore on 8 April.  

                                During the above meetings, the CPF delegation expressed its strong interest in investing in Lahore Province in the fields of chicken farm and animal feed. Minister Zehr said, among other things, that the CPF’s investment was extremely important to Pakistan’s economy and would strengthen further the existing cordial ties between Pakistan and Thailand.   Most importantly, he said “Pakistani sides both at federal and provincial levels will give full assurance of cooperation to CPF….” .  

                                The CPF’s actual investment, according to Mr. Sripratak, is expected to start early next year after the completion of feasibility study and approval of its Board of Directors.
