                      On 21-24 February 2011, the delegation of the Office of the National Security Council (NSC) of Thailand led by Mr. Tawin Pleansri, Secretary - General of the NSC of Thailand paid an official visit to Pakistan to attend the 2nd Pakistan-Thailand Joint Working Group (JWG) Meeting on Combating Terrorism and Certain Other Crimes hosted by the Ministry of Interior of Pakistan led by H.E.Mr.Chaudhry Qamar Zaman, Interior Secretary.   Both sides reviewed the implementation of the results of the 1st Meeting held in Bangkok in 2006 and discussed about the situation on counter terrorism and transnational crimes, information sharing on drug trafficking and on money laundering of drug proceeds, and cooperation on mutual legal assistance, extradition and transfer of offenders.  Ambassador Marut Jitpatima also took the occasion to update the Meeting of the Thai-Pakistani bilateral relations and the latest development in the three-most-southern provinces of Thailand.  The Meeting agreed, among others, to continue discussing, exploring and unifying efforts to address common security challenges. 

                             

During the visit, the Secretary-General paid courtesy calls on H.E. Mr. Rehman Malik, Minister of Interior of Pakistan, and on a representative of the Director General of Inter-Services of Intelligence (ISI) and discussed with them matters of mutual interest.  The Thai delegation also met and had lunch with the Thai students studying at the International Islamic University and the Madrassas in  the Northern areas of Pakistan.
