TEAM THAILAND IN PAKISTAN HELPS PROMOTE HISTORICAL SITE OF TAXILA

                      On 31 March 2011, Ambassador Marut Jitpatima presided over the opening ceremony of the project called “Thai Shines Gandhara Heritage” which was held at Taxila Museum and organized by Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) in cooperation with the Federal Department of Archeology and Museums.   The ceremony  was attended by Mr. Polapat Neelabhamorn, Country Manager of THAI, Mr. Muhammad Bahadar Khan, Deputy Director of Federal Department of  Archaeology and Museums, representatives of travel agencies, staff of Embassy, Defence and Military Attache, and THAI, and Thai students.

                      This project which was initiated and funded by THAI, was aimed at promoting better understanding of Taxila historical site as one of the world’s most important Buddhist landmarks and pilgrimage destination.  In his welcoming speech, Mr. Neelabhamorn stressed  that THAI would continue its effort to promote  inbound tourism to Pakistan.   Under the project, THAI’s contribution includes installation of signboards in six different languages i.e. Thai, English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Urdu, and provision of benches and  water coolers.     

                      In his opening remarks, Ambassador Jitpatima said, among other things, that the project was part of the celebration of 60th anniversary of Thai-Pakistan relations and was a good example of how Thai-Pakistani partnership could be promoted and sustained.
